GEOFFREY RUSH

“Professor Einstein”

After more than two decades as a stage and film actor, Australian-born Geoffrey Rush burst into the mainstream with the role of a lifetime as piano prodigy David Helfgott in “Shine,” for which he received an Academy Award, Golden Globe, BAFTA and Australian Film Institute Award. Since then he has become one of Hollywood’s most reliable talents, with critically acclaimed roles in “Shakespeare in Love,” “Quills,” “The Kings Speech” and the “Pirates of Caribbean” franchise. Albert Einstein

Generally considered the most influential physicist of the 20th century, Albert Einstein was a German-born scientist who developed the special and general theories of relativity. He was also an eternally curious, sexually charged, impudent rebel who bristled against authority.




JOHNNY FLYNN

“Albert Einstein (younger)”

British actor and musician Johnny Flynn was nominated as the London Newcomer of the Year at the 2012 What’s On Stage Awards for his performance in “The Heretic” (Royal Court) and went on to gain his first Olivier Award nomination for “Jerusalem” (West End) that year. More recently, Johnny starred in Martin McDonagh’s huge hit “Hangmen” originating at the Royal Court and transferring to the West End. Other theater credits include “TWELFTH NIGHT/RICHARD III” with Mark Rylance (Globe/West End) and “THE LOW ROAD” (Royal Court). He co-starred with Anne Hathaway in the feature film “Song One,” for which The Hollywood Reporter called his performance “captivating” when it premiered at Sundance in 2014, and also appeared in the features “Clouds of Sils Maria” and “Love Is Thicker Than Water.” Flynn has had roles on several British television series, including “Lovesick” and “Brotherhood.” He is also the lead singer of the English folk band Johnny Flynn and the Sussex Wit, which has released three albums.

EMILY WATSON

“Elsa Einstein”

Emily Watson began her career on stage and joined the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1992. In 1996 she made her film debut in “Breaking Waves”, directed by Lars von Trier, winning her both Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations in the Best Actress category. Just three years after her triumph in Breaking the Waves, Watson was again nominated for a Best Actress Oscar, this time for her portrayal of the manic British cellist Jacqueline du Pre in Hilary and Jackie and in 2004 she was nominated for a Golden Globe award for her role in the HBO film “The Life and Death of Peter Sellers”. Watson’s status as a leading actress in major Hollywood productions was cemented with her role in films such as “Punch-Drunk Love” alongside Adam Sandler, Brett Ratner’s “Red Dragon”, and “Equilibrium” with Christian Bale.

About Elsa Einstein

Einstein’s first cousin and second wife, Elsa, began a relationship with Einstein in 1912 when he escaped his toxic marriage to Mileva Maric. Elsa was Mileva’s polar opposite— maternal and willing to live in Einstein’s shadow. A confident business manager and savvy publicist, Elsa handled all of Einstein’s travel, accounting, and interactions with the press, in many ways helping him become the international celebrity he is remembered as.

 



SAMANTHA COLLEY

“Mileva Marić”

Samantha Colley trained at the Oxford School of Drama, graduating in 2014. She went on to make her professional debut at the Old Vic Theatre, playing Abigail in “The Crucible” directed by Yaél Farber, alongside Richard Armitage. Colley has also performed at the Young Vic Theatre and the Southwark Playhouse. Her television credits include ITV's “Endeavour” directed by Oliver Blackburn and "Victoria" directed by Tom Vaughan.

About Mileva Marić

Serbian physics student at Zurich Polytechnic who became Albert’s first wife. Mother of Hans Albert, Eduard and Lieserl. Passionate and driven, but also brooding and increasingly gloomy, she triumphed over many of the obstacles that then faced an aspiring female physicist. Divorced Albert in 1919.

 

 


MICHAEL MCELHATTON

“Dr. Philip Lenard”

Irish actor Michael McElhatton is a multi award-winning actor best known as Lord Roose Bolton from the last three seasons of HBO’s hit television series, “Game of Thrones.” He will next be seen in “Justice League” directed by Zack Snyder, Guy Richie’s “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword,” “The Zookeeper’s Wife” with Jessica Chastain, “Jadotville” with Jamie Dornan and Mark Strong, and “The Autopsy of Jane Doe” with Emile Hirsch. Other credits include “Ripper Street” and “The Fall,” both for BBC, as well as “Mammal” with Rachel Griffiths. He has an extensive list of theater credits and works often as a writer. About Dr. Phillip Lenard

Nobel winning Hungarian-German physicist, Dr. Phillip Lenard was Einstein’s nemesis. His research on cathode rays would lead to Einstein’s ground-breaking (and Nobel winning) discovery of the quantum effect. Lenard became a virulent skeptic of Einstein’s relativity theory and a vocal anti-Semite, eventually joining the Nazi Party.

 



SETH GABEL

“Michele Besso”

Seth Gabel can currently be seen as Cotton Mather on the widely successful television series “Salem,” which earned him a highlight in The Hollywood Reporter’s Emmy issue in 2014. Prior to “Salem,” he played Count Vertigo on “Arrow” from Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg. Gabel is best known for playing Agent Lincoln Lee on “Fringe” and has also appeared on such hit shows as “American Horror Story,” “United State of Tara,” “Dirty Sexy Money” and “Nip/Tuck.” On the big screen, Gabel was the lead in “Allegiance,” playing a lieutenant in the U.S. National Guard, and in “Forever,” from the writers of “Walk the Line.” He also appeared in the film version of Dan Brown’s novel “The Da Vinci Code,” directed by Ron Howard. About Michele Besso

An engaging, but unfocused engineer, Michele Besso was Albert Einstein’s closest friend. He met Einstein in Zurich, then followed him to work at the Bern patent office. Married Anna Winteler, sister of Einstein’s first girlfriend.

 

 

T. R. KNIGHT

“J. Edgar Hoover”

T.R. Knight can next be seen in the ABC series “The Catch” and the network’s mini-series “When We Rise”. Last year Knight starred as Johnny Clayton in the Stephen King and J.J. Abrams series “11.22.63”. He recently appeared on Broadway alongside Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane in “It’s Only a Play”. Other theatre credits include “A Life in the Theatre” on Broadway opposite Patrick Stewart and Mercutio in “Romeo & Juliet” with Elizabeth Olsen. He played Harold Parrott in the film “42”, and on ABC as George O’Malley in “Grey’s Anatomy”, for which he received an Emmy nomination.

About J. Edgar Hoover

J. EDGAR HOOVER was the first Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation of the United States. He is a driven and hard-charging political icon. The FBI, under Hoover's direction, amassed an enormous file on Einstein in an attempt to prove he was a “subversive” and a secret Communist. Hoover became focused on ruining Einstein, developing a personal vendetta against the famous scientist following incidents in which Hoover perceived that Einstein had humiliated the US Government.

 



VINCENT KARTHEISER

“Raymond Geist”

Vincent Kartheiser was recently nominated for the 2016 Critics Choice Awards for his portrayal of William Bradford in National Geographic’s “Saints & Strangers,” and is currently appearing in season two of the Golden Globe-nominated comedy “Casual,” executive produced by Jason Reitman. Kartheiser is best known for his incredible portrayal of Pete Campbell in the multi award-winning, critically acclaimed AMC series “Mad Men.” He starred in David Wain and Michael Showalter’s short film “The Second Sound Barrier” alongside Juliette Lewis. Most recently, Kartheiser can be seen in Brownstone Productions’ “The Most Hated Woman in America” opposite Melissa Leo. He also starred as the lead villain in Andrew Niccol’s “In Time” opposite Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried and Cillian Murphy and more recently in Zoe Cassavetes’ independent feature “Day out of Days.” Kartheiser is represented by Untitled Entertainment and Paradigm.  

About Raymond Geist

Raymond Geist was an American Consul General stationed at the US embassy in Berlin. By stroke of luck, his boss was on vacation, leaving him the nerve-wracking job of processing Albert Einstein. When the two first met, Geist viewed Einstein as a potential threat to American security, but in the end, he came to respect the brilliant scientist.




SHANNON TARBET

“Marie Winteler”

British actress, Shannon Tarbet, came to public attention in 2010 with her critically acclaimed professional stage debut as Delilah Evans in “Spur of the Moment” at the Royal Court Theatre in London. She later went on to star in the one-woman show “Edge of Our Bodies” and in the Alan Ball HBO pilot “Virtuoso”. She also appeared in the BBC’s “The River” opposite Stellan Skarsgard.

About Marie Winteler

Marie Winteler was a beautiful, happygo-lucky schoolteacher from a good Swiss family. Upon finishing teacher’s college, the sixteen-year old Einstein stole her heart. They would be each other’s first serious relationship, but Marie could not keep up with Einstein’s brain. When Einstein dumped her to be with Mileva Maric, his intellectual equal, Marie was left heart-broken.




ROBERT LINDSAY

“Hermann Einstein”

Robert Lindsay is a British actor, who has moved his talent between television, film, and theatre. He played the role of Bill Snibson in the   hugely acclaimed 1984 London revival of “Me and My Girl” for which he won an Olivier Award, Fred Estaire award, and Tony award. In 1991 he secured a Best Actor BAFTA for his role in Alan Bleasdale’s television series, “G.B.H.” He has also appeared in the television series “Jericho”, “Spy”, and “Atlantis”. Lindsay's longest running role was Ben Harper in the popular BBC sitcom “My Family” (2000–2011).


About Hermann Einstein

Einstein’s father, Hermann Einstein, was an old-fashioned and stern man who wanted to see his son succeed in the traditional way—graduate high school, study engineering and join the family electrical company. Albert refused to do all three, thus sparking a contentious relationship that lasted until Hermann’s untimely death at 55. He never survived to see young Einstein  succeed.

 



CLAIRE RUSHBROOK

“Pauline Einstein”

English actress, Claire Rushbrook, began her career in theatre, appearing in the West End productions of “Three Sisters” and “Festen”. She starred in the television series “The Sins”, “Linda Green”, and “My Mad Fat Diary” for which she received a 2014 BAFTA TV Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Rushbrook also appeared in both seasons of “Home Fires”. Her film credits include “Secrets & Lies” and “Under the Skin” with Samantha Morton.

About Pauline Einstein

Pauline was the overly doting, opinionated and meddling mother of Albert Einstein. She only wanted ‘what was best’ for her son and vehemently rejected his first wife, Mileva Maric. She survived to see her son become world famous.

 



CHARITY WAKEFIELD

“Betty Neumann”

Charity Wakefield studied acting at the Oxford School of Drama and made her big screen debut in 2004, in “(Past Present Future) Imperfect”. She went on to star in a BBC1 production of “Rapunzel” and has also appeared in the television series “Casualty 1907”, “Wolf Hall”, and “The Player” with Philip Winchester and Wesley Snipes. Charity most recently starred in the Doctor Who Christmas Special, “Doctor Who: The Return of Doctor Mysterio”.

About Betty Neumann

Betty was a young and impressionable woman who found herself romantically entangled with the most famous scientist in the world. What began as a fling quickly developed into a serious affair, with Einstein trying to convince Betty to move in with him and his second wife. Betty had to be the bigger person and bring Einstein back to reality, thus ending the affair.



 

RICHARD TOPOL

“Fritz Haber”

Richard Topol has made Broadway appearances in “Fish in the Dark” with Larry David, the Tony winning revivals of “The Normal Heart” and “Awake & Sing,” “The Merchant of Venice” with Al Pacino, “The Country Girl” directed by Mike Nichols, and “Julius Caesar” with Denzel Washington. He just closed Paula Vogel's new play “Indecent” off-Broadway. His film and TV credits include “Lincoln,” “Indignation,” “Mickey Blue Eyes,” “Great Gilly Hopkins” (upcoming), “Yinz” (upcoming), "Billions", “The Good Wife”, “Elementary”, “Person of Interest”, all the “Law & Order” series, “Gilmore Girls”, and recurring roles on “The Practice”, “Covert Affairs” and “Perception”.

About Fritz Haber

A brilliant German chemist and gas warfare pioneer, Fritz Haber, spearheaded the recruitment of Einstein to the esteemed Prussian Academy. Haber and Einstein became fast friends, despite their differences in politics. A Jew who converted to Christianity in an attempt to be a good German, he preached to Einstein the virtues of assimilation until the Nazis came to power.

 

 


RALPH BROWN

“Max Planck”

British actor, writer and musician Ralph Brown has had over one hundred roles in film (“Alien 3,” “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace,” “Withnail & I”) and television productions (“Agent Carter,” “Elementary,” “Life on Mars”). He also wrote, produced, and acted in the film “New Year's Day”. As a musician, he plays alto saxophone and piano.

About Max Planck

Balding and bespectacled, Planck was a professor of theoretical physics who was eventually credited with originating quantum theory. Planck had an intellectual air, having come from a long line of professors. He was a gifted musician and benefitted from a liberal education, lending him a wisdom about matters beyond science. He was brilliant, but scientifically and politically conservative. Despite their difference in temperaments, he and Einstein were lifelong friends.



 

KLARA ISSOVA

“Marie Curie”

Half-Czech, half-Syrian actress, Klara Isovva, earned a Czech Film Academy Award nomination in her debut film at the age of 15. She claimed the prize with her second role and has since appeared in over 60 films, including “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” and National Geographic’s “Killing Jesus”.

About Marie Curie

Curie was a brilliant, driven, Polish-born scientist who moved to Paris to study physics. She married fellow scientist Pierre Curie. They had a strong romantic bond and a productive scientific partnership until his death in 1906. Together they discovered the radioactive element Radium and coined the term “radioactivity." Marie Curie is the only person to win the Noble Prize in both Chemistry and Physics. She was passionate about science and a tireless worker. She became close friends with Albert Einstein.

 



CHRISTIAN RUBECK

“Werner Heisenberg”

Norwegian actor Christian Rubeck most recently appeared in Robert Zemeckis’ “Allied” in 2016. With numerous film and television credits to his name in both Norwegian and English, he previously played another pioneering German scientist from the turn of the century, Otto Hahn, in the 2005 docudrama “Einstein’s Big Idea”.

About Werner Heisenberg

Heisenberg was a Nobel Prize-winning German physicist who toured the world lecturing and became a pioneer in quantum mechanics. He was a close colleague of fellow Nobel Prize-winning physicist Neils Bohr. During WWII, he was co-opted by the Nazis into building atomic weapons but was ultimately beaten to it by the United States.

Academy Award-winning filmmaker Ron Howard is one of this generation's most popular directors. From the critically acclaimed dramas “A Beautiful Mind” and “Apollo 13” to the hit comedies “Parenthood” and “Splash”, he has created some of Hollywood's most memorable films over the last 20 years.

Recently, Howard directed "Inferno", the third installment of Dan Brown's Robert Langdon franchise and "8 Days A Week-The Touring Years", a documentary about the rock legends The Beatles. Gigi Pritzker is an accomplished film producer, stage producer and businesswoman. She founded diversified content company Madison Wells Media (MWM) in partnership with Clint Kisker. Together they also founded the immersive media content company Reality One in 2015. Pritzker also develops and produces Tony Award-winning live stage productions through her company Relevant Theatricals.

Pritzker founded the film and television production company OddLot Entertainment in 2001, where she has produced Academy Award-nominated drama Rabbit Hole starring Nicole Kidman; The Way, Way Back starring Steve Carell; Drive starring Ryan Gosling; the futuristic sci-fi film, Ender’s Game; Jon Stewart’s directorial debut Rosewater; the critically acclaimed Hell or High Water starring Jeff Bridges, Chris Pine and Ben Foster; and the film LANDLINE starring Jenny Slate, Edie Falco and John Turturro, which is set to premiere at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival.

She is a committed philanthropist and holds a position on the Sundance Institute Board of Trustees, is the Founder & Vice Chair of Project&, a member of the Board of the Goodman Theatre of Chicago and serves on the Advisory Board of the Harold Ramis Film School.  She sits on the Board of STX Entertainment and is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Ken Biller is a TV writer, producer, and director, who was most recently the Showrunner and Executive Producer of Legends on TNT. His other credits include serving as Executive Producer and head writer for E-Ring on NBC, Six Degrees on ABC, and Star Trek: Voyager on UPN. He also served as Co-Executive Producer of the series North Shore, Smallville and Dark Angel. He was the Showrunner and Executive Producer of the action-fantasy series, Legend of the Seeker, which he developed for television.
